The Deathly Spoilers

No, I really couldn’t come up with a cleverer title for this entry.

With the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows occurring so soon that I pretty much need to be my pants from excitement, I’m now finding spoilers practically inescapable. Not only spoilers — I know where I can download the whole book. My mom told me that Bloomsbury and Scholastic have been spending time shutting down places that have been displaying the book online… but it’s too late. It’s out there. People have it and are sharing it across the internet and across the world and it’s absolutely inescapable. I’ve had to stop myself from downloading it three times.

It’s the real deal, this time, too. People who aren’t purists like me who are reading it are saying that it is REALLY GOOD. This gets my hopes up… yet, I am terrified of absolutely hating this book. As much as I love the series, I’m really not a fan of J.K. Rowling’s writing and was reasonably disappointed with the past few books. I get bored reading the stories… I find myself scanning over long passages in search of “the good parts.” When I recently read the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman, I did not have that problem.  He has a happy talent for writing a really tight narrative, whereas dear Jo apparently does not. I love her characters, though. I like how she invents these characters in her brain and creates entire backstories for them.

I wonder if she is one of those people that spends most of their lives dwelling within their own imaginations. I do this. Sometime I’ll get so lost in my own daydreams that I’ll forget what is real and what isn’t. (Combine this with sleep deprivation and it can get messy.)

Anyway…. Regardless of my feelings about her writing and my trepidation about the quality of the book… I AM SO EXCITED! I must know how it ends. How will I make it until 11:59 p.m Friday night? I don’t know.

I downloaded the book and had no trouble not reading it - it’s way too pixelated and hurts my eyes.

    Killer site, btw.
